THE ROLE
As Director of Planning, you'll take on a leadership role within the business, overseeing key projects and contributing to the growth and development of the planning team. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing strategic plans for the growth of the planning division
- Overseeing the preparation and management of major planning applications and development projects
- Providing expert advice on complex planning issues, including strategic site promotions and policy matters
- Managing and mentoring a team of planners, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard
- Representing the company at public inquiries, appeals, and stakeholder meetings
- Monitoring changes in planning legislation and advising clients and teams on implications
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
For this role, you'll need:
- A degree in Town Planning accredited by the RTPI
- Chartered membership of the RTPI
- Extensive post-qualification experience, including strategic planning and large-scale developments
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and manage teams effectively
- Strong commercial experience with a track record of business development and client management
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with stakeholders and clients
- In-depth knowledge of planning legislation and policy frameworks
- A full UK driving licence
