Role – Senior Ecologists (Wildlife Whispers Wanted)
Salary – £38 - £45K
Location – Bedfordshire
THE OPPORTUNITY
We have exciting opportunities across the UK for Senior Ecologists to join dynamic and passionate ecology teams. This role is perfect for someone who knows their dormice from their daffodils, can lead projects with confidence, and has a knack for explaining biodiversity net gain without making clients glaze over.
The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of projects, from conservation initiatives to large-scale developments, ensuring that nature and people can co-exist harmoniously.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading Ecological Surveys, from bats to badgers, the role involves planning and conducting a wide range of species and habitat surveys
- Producing Reports, writing EcIAs, HRAs, and BNG plans
- Managing Multiple Projects, balancing deadlines, budgets, and client expectations
- Mentoring and Supporting Junior Ecologists
- Engaging with Clients and Stakeholders
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Ecology
- Extensive experience in ecological consultancy or conservation
- Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, protected species surveys, and mitigation strategies
- A protected species licence (such as bats, great crested newts, or dormice) or significant mitigation experience
- Membership (or working towards) CIEEM
- A full driving licence, as most fieldwork isn’t accessible by public transport
- Excellent report writing, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills
