Role – Senior Ecologist
Salary – £38 - £45K DOE
Location – Cambridgeshire
Our client, a multidisciplinary consultancy based in Cambridgeshire is looking for a Senior Ecologist who will play a key role in delivering ecological assessments, surveys, and reports while leading a team of ecologists. This position requires close collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and best practices.
SENIOR ECOLOGIST KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage ecological projects from inception to completion
- Conduct and oversee habitat surveys, protected species assessments, and ecological impact assessments (EIAs)
- Mentor and guide junior ecologists
- Client Liaison
- Prepare high-quality ecological reports and technical documentation
- Stay up to date with environmental legislation and policy changes
- Conduct fieldwork as required, including species identification and habitat assessments
SENIOR ECOLOGIST REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A degree in Ecology, or a related field
- CIEEM Membership
- Bat and GCN Licences
- A proven track record of managing projects and leading teams
- Proficient in ecological survey techniques, data analysis, and report writing
- Familiarity with GIS software is an advantage
- Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, biodiversity policy, and best practices in ecology
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
