THE ROLE
As a Senior Town Planner, you’ll be responsible for:
- Managing and delivering a variety of planning projects, from initial appraisals to securing consents
- Preparing and submitting planning applications and appeals
- Conducting site appraisals, preparing reports, and presenting recommendations to clients
- Representing clients at planning boards, appeals, and public consultations
- Offering expert advice on planning policy and development control issues
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
- Staying up to date with changes in planning legislation and industry trends
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited)
- Chartered RTPI membership or working towards it
- Significant experience in town planning, including managing complex projects
- Strong knowledge of national and local planning policies and development control
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for engaging with clients and stakeholders
- Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A full UK driving licence
